How Does It Work?

At the start of a new exchange, each participant fills out an online questionnaire about their activities, interests, and preferences, and is then assigned a recipient for whom they will craft something in the SCA art form of their choice over the next 5 months.

Each participant will also be assigned to a different participant as that person's recipient.

There are multiple check-in points during the exchange, and a deadline after which dropping out is not permitted. Failure to meet deadlines may result in being banned from future exchanges.

How do I choose what to gift?

The primary guideline is that the gift must be SCA appropriate and made by you. Some exchanges have themes, while others are open-ended. You’ll receive your recipient's information after sign-up to help guide your choice.

What will it cost?

Materials are capped at $25. Items from your stash do not count toward this limit. There is no fee to participate.

Who can sign up?

All skill levels are welcome—from beginners to laurels. You may use an existing craft or try something new.

Participation is limited to 30 people and is first-come, first-served based on survey completion.

Who runs the exchange?

This exchange is being run by Aibhilin kenari fra Skye and Okimâw Mihko Pîsim .

What happens if I run into trouble?

Contact the admins as soon as possible. They can help with ideas, gather more information about your recipient, or arrange backup support if needed.

What if I can't deliver my gift in person?

Shipping is allowed, but you are responsible for ensuring delivery. Tracking and insurance are strongly recommended.

What information do I need to provide?

You'll be asked about your persona, interests, allergies, and preferences. Some questions are optional but may affect the type of gift you receive.

Do I need to wrap it?

Totally optional—people care more about the gift itself.

Can I gift a service?

No. This is an artisan exchange, so the gift must be a physical object made by you.

Can I post pictures of my gift?

Yes! Just wait until your recipient has received it, and give them a chance to post first.

What have past themes been?

Life, Death, Ealdormere Pride, Something New, Heraldry, Free-for-All

What's an Angel?

Angels are volunteers who step in to create a gift if someone drops out. If you'd like to help, select that option in the signup form or contact the admins.
